Kodály said that “music belongs to everybody”. Music at Heart serves the diverse community of Leeds and aims to ensure that all families can access our classes without barriers. As a small business and not-for-profit organisation, one of our core values is to widen participation in high-quality music education in the early years.
We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of donations, alongside funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, which helps make this work possible.
The support we offer
We offer free and subsidised places for families who may need support to attend — for example due to financial pressure, disability or additional needs, mental health, or life circumstances in the early years of parenting.
We warmly welcome families of all backgrounds, including those new to the UK, speakers of other languages, LGBTQ+ families, and people of all faiths and none.

Our costs
It costs around £8 per week to send one child to our Kodály music classes.
A one-off donation of £48 will send a child to music class for half a term (6 classes)
A regular donation of £8/month (over 12 months) will send a child to music class for one term of the year (12 weeks)
A regular donation of £32/month will send a child to music class for a full year
An annual donation of £96 will send a child to 12 music classes (a full term)

You can donate to Music at Heart below. All donations go directly towards funding places for families, nurseries and schools who may otherwise be unable to attend. These donations do not fund general running costs; they specifically cover teacher pay and venue hire for the sessions supported.

We offer a range of support to help families, nurseries and schools access our early years music classes, including:
• a 20% sibling discount for families attending with two children (automatically applied to the youngest child)
• up to a 70% discount for babies and younger children (0–2) joining our 3–5s Kodály classes alongside an older sibling
• a First Forty Days exemption, offering a free place for babies under 6 weeks when attending with an older sibling
• free and subsidised places for families who may need support to attend — for example due to financial pressure, disability or additional needs, mental health, or other life circumstances
• subsidised places for nurseries and schools bringing groups of children
