Who we are…

Caitlin

Carolyn

Caitlin and Carolyn are both highly experienced teachers, running Music at Heart part-time whilst bringing up their young children.

Caitlin is a singer, harpist and accomplished pianist, who has worked in early years music for over 10 years. She has a Double First Class degree in music and Spanish, a PGCE and is one of few qualified Kodály music teachers in West Yorkshire. Her passions are folk and jazz, particularly composing her own original music. She loves circle work, space-holding and real, ‘come-as-you-are’ spaces which bring community together.

Carolyn is a professional clarinettist, but also achieved her Grade 8 on violin, saxophone, piano and flute. She has worked in early years music for over 10 years, has a First Class degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, has played with countless professional orchestras as well as working for Opera North, and loves bringing music into the lives of young children.

What our parents say…

My daughter’s confidence has noticeably increased. She happily joins in playing all the wonderful instruments, and she absolutely loves singing, both in class and at home. I’m so grateful that this class exists. – Linda

It’s lovely to have a class that is for both me and my baby. The songs are so special and I find myself singing them all the time, a nice break from the usual nursery rhymes. – Cath

Having struggled with my mental health as a new mother, the classes were very welcoming. I got to meet other parents and have conversations that helped my mental wellbeing. – June

Our little boy has speech delay and has been attending Music at Heart for a couple of months. We have been really grateful and happy to see how much his speech has developed and improved since he has been going to the classes every week. – Bori

It’s so refreshing to find a good quality music class that isn’t totally manic! It’s such a lovely environment and the ethos is fantastic. – Catherine and Jon

I’ve been to another music class with my other granddaughter, and it was good, but not a patch on this. – Grandma
